Tennessee man arrested in winery burglary

ADEL, GA (WALB) - A burglar alarm sounded at 6:00 Monday morning at the Horse Creek Winery, on Rountree Bridge in Sparks.

When deputies arrived, they found  a red Ford Focus with a Tennessee tag behind the business, and  door open on the second floor landing.

They went inside, and found Robert A. Tipton, 25, of Knoxville, Tennessee. They arrested him on the spot.

He had been traveling south on Interstate 75, and pulled behind the winery to break into the business. When deputies encountered Tipton, he had cash he had taken, and two knives that he used to get into the building.

Cook County Sheriff Douglas G. Hanks said he was arrested and transported to the Cook County Jail, where he faces felony charges of burglary in the second degree, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of a knife in the commission of a felony.
