Volunteers in Albany rolled up their sleeves and brought out their tools Sunday, all for a good cause. Albany House of Prayer is renovating a house on Pine Avenue, which will soon become a 24 hour house of prayer. All of the different ministries will be located at the house.
Young and old Lifegate Church volunteers all helped with the demolition and cleanup.
"Yeah, you can tell we look kind of dirty and dusty and that kind of thing," said general contractor Ben Barrow. "But we're trying to tear out the old and get ready to renovate and bring in the new."
They say it may take a while, but it is a labor of love.
"It's always good to serve. Jesus tells us to be the hands and feet and so that's what we want to be. That involves getting involved and getting dirty. So that's what we're doing, actually being God's hands and feet," said volunteer Teresa Knight.
The new center will also have a hope box, where someone can drop off an unwanted child that will be loved and taken care of.
