AKC Southern Heritage coon dogs are in town

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Another big hunting event bringing hundreds of people from across the nation to South Georgia, the second annual American Kennel Club Southern Heritage Hunt and Show.

Coon dogs from as far as Kentucky competing in two nights of hunts. The hunt headquarters at the Exchange Club of Albany Fairgrounds.

J. C. Walden came from Red Level, Alabama, saying that coon hunting and the dogs are great passions of his.

"They get on that tree and it's just like looking at a magazine, where you see them dogs trying to climb the tree.  It's just enjoyable.  Just one of them things I love," he said.

There are more than 200 hunters and another 75 people scheduled to compete in Saturday's dog show, which is free and open to the public tomorrow morning at 11.
