PELHAM, GA (WALB) - The city of Pelham continues their efforts to honor the men and women who served and our serving our country, one sign at a time. In 2014, the city received a plaque proclaiming it a Purple Heart City.
The new signs are popping up around the city to recognize Purple Heart recipients who live in town.
"It gives us something to think about and reflect on that our community is very much supportive and appreciative of our veterans. And it's great to honor those that are the recipients of the Purple Heart," said Jim Hedges, Pelham City Manager.
Hedges hopes to place additional signs around town to show their appreciation for servicemen and women.
The city will also name the upcoming community center after a Commander of the Blue Angels.
