ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Some South Georgia students enjoyed the swashbuckling sounds of the Atlanta Opera.
Organizers with the Albany chapter of "Links Incorporated" brought the show to South Georgia for Dougherty and Mitchell County students.
Two performances of "The Pirates of Penzance" gave students a taste of professional singing and dancing talents.
Organizers said it exposes students to entertainment that they may not get a chance to see otherwise.
"I'm having the opportunity for students in Dougherty county to be exposed to the culture that's there. Especially in terms of the opera, ballets," said Dr. Valerie Overstreet-Thomas with Links Incorporated.
This is the first year that Mitchell County students were invited to enjoy the performance.
