Two teens arrested for pot at same Douglas intersection

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

Two 19 year old men were arrested, both after traffic violations, and both at the same intersection in Douglas, both on the same day, and they're both from small towns in Coffee County.

On Friday, DCDU detectives and K9 deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on North Gaskin Avenue and Jackson Street after the driver failed to maintain lane, taking a wide left turn, and running up onto private property.

Kavious Tomlin, 19, of Nicholls, could not provide a valid driver's license, and became very nervous, and he appeared to be attempting to get something from under his seat, so police had him get out of the vehicle.

Officers could smell marijuana so they brought a drug dog, which "alerted" on the vehicle. Officers got 15 small bags of marijuana in a backpack, and that's where they found Tomlin's drivers license.   Tomlin was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The same day, and at the same place, DCDU detectives and K9 deputies conducted a traffic stop for failure to maintain lane.  Officers smelled marijuana in this case, as well.

Zawordie Killiebrew, 19, of Broxton, gave consent to a search and then tried to hide something in the seat.  Officers immediately detained the driver and recovered a small bag of marijuana.  Killiebrew  was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
