CORDELE, GA (WALB) - A Cordele man is not going to let vandals stop him from building bus stops for kids. Police are looking for the person responsible for ruining the bus stop shelter.
The bus stop was completely destroyed Friday morning. The builder of the shelters says he's not the one who wants the apology.
It takes Loren Nichols at least one hour to make one of the bus stop shelters for school kids in the area.
"I'm building to keep the kids out of the cold and the rain," said Nichols. "It's kind of time passing too and I ain't just sitting around."
Nichols says he had been placing the shelters around town since December, and it has been getting a great response.
The shelters cost around $200 to make, but Nichols says he will continue to build them.
"Sponsors is taking money out of there pocket to build them to so it's not even your money," said Nichols.
Despite the time and money that is put into the shelters, Nichols doesn't want an apology for himself.
"He doesn't owe me an apology," said Nichols. "He owes it to the kids on that side of town. He don't owe me anything; I am just doing it for the kids."
If you would like to make a donation to help build the shelters, call Nichols at 229-805-4271. If anyone has information regarding the incident, call Cordele Police at 229-276-2330.
