PLAINS, GA (WALB) -

Two South Georgia celebrities joined forces for a good cause. Celebrity chef Paula Deen came all the way down to Plains for her close friend, former President Jimmy Carter.

If you ask Paula Deen to come to Plains, Georgia for her friend Jimmy Carter the answer would be of course.

"When Jill or Mr. Jimmy calls no I am so happy to be here," said Deen. "It's such a privilege for me to be here."

As many as 40 people participated in an exclusive painting session on Saturday with the Celebrity Chef and former President.

The estimated $25,000 raised will go to the Plains Better Hometown Program and the Friends of Jimmy Carter National Historic site.

"We're so appreciative to get Paula Deen down here to help us out and help us out and help us make some money for a great cause," said Jill Stuckey.

Deen says she was honored to be at the event, especially after President Carter's recent cancer diagnosis.

"I really squeezed him extra tight when I saw him this morning," said Deen.

Only a handful of special guests got to enjoy dinner with the President, his wife, and Paula Deen.
