SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Sylvester's mayor says city hall is in major need of renovations. As the city plans to renovate the historic building, workers in city hall will relocate to the depot across the street.

Workers are putting finishing touches on the depot, which has been undergoing its own renovation for a few months. The space will house offices and a large conference room for upcoming city council meetings.

Mayor Bill Yearta says the building has a new roof, new electrical system, and refinished floors.

"A lot of history there, good gracious. It would be a shame to let it go and deteriorate," said Mayor Yearta. "And it had gotten into pretty bad shape but we completely remodeled it. So, it's going to be a nice building for the community."

Mayor Yearta says the depot should be completed by next month. After that, renovations at city hall will begin.
