UGA recognizes two South Georgia Philanthropists

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A couple of South Georgia's greatest philanthropists will be remembered and honored for their outstanding support of the University of Georgia.

Harry and Jane Willson were not graduates of UGA, but they donated a lot of money to the university.

As owners of Sunnyland Farms here in Dougherty County, they wanted to see all of Georgia prosper.

Both Willsons passed away. Mrs. Willson died just a few months ago, but her family will be present to accept UGA's president's medal next week on their behalf.

“They founded a business here in South Georgia and really wanted the university to be the finest that it could be, and any way that they could help they wanted to do that. They became very supportive of the University of Georgia throughout the years," says her son Larry Willson

Sunnyland Farms has been here in Albany since 1948.
