MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - As temperatures decrease, the need to help the homeless community increases.
The Greater Newton Grove Cathedral recently opened their emergency homeless shelter in Moultrie.
This is the first year they have been able to use a building, other than their youth center, to house homeless people on cold winter nights.
Anyone needing shelter from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. can visit the center on 905 West Central Avenue.
"This is a community project," said Senior Pastor Cornelius Ponder. "I would love to see just the whole community rally together. This is the only emergency shelter for the whole community, for the whole county."
They are asking for donations of pillows, blankets, toiletries, and food.
