ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Flu season hasn't been too bad so far, but we're just entering what is normally the peak season.
Pharmacists said this year's vaccine is working well and they encourage you to get one if you haven't already.
They say the idea that you could get the flu from the flu shot is just a myth.
"There is that two week period. Kind of like a lag period. That if you do come in contact with someone who has the flu or if you do come in contact before you get the shot with someone that has the flu, you will get sick," said Jennifer Huggins, a pharmacist.
Some tips to preventing the spread of the flu; avoid contact with anyone who is sick, stay at home if you're not feeling well, wash your hands often and try avoid touching your eyes, nose, face and mouth.
