CAMILLA, GA (WALB) -

It was a spirited City Council meeting in Camilla Tuesday night.

A lot of people showed up to listen to the city council and new mayor, Rufus Davis talk about their goals for the new year.

Residents also had time to express their concerns about high electric bills and other issues.

Many were angry that most council members did not show up to a meeting the mayor called on short notice last week to listen to citizens' complaints.

The mayor and his supporters also remain upset that he hasn't been given keys to city hall.

"There was a lot of robust conversation here tonight. Citizens did raise that question ...uh council members did not want to discuss it," said Mayor Rufus Davis.

City Manager Bennett Adams previously said that no previous mayor had his own keys to city hall, but he would provide them to Mayor Davis if directed to do so by the city council.

On Tuesday, Adams said the council will discuss that issue at their February 8th meeting.
