ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A fan-favorite event at the Albany Civic Center will not happen this year. World Wrestling Entertainment canceled their event scheduled for January 29th at the Civic Center.
WWE last came in 2012.
Officials say the wrestling organization canceled to give their performers time to rest and insist it had nothing to do with ticket sales. The director says other family events are coming—including arena football.
"They'll start in March. We also have Harlem Globetrotters coming in February so another family event. Here in the next couple months, we've got several events coming up that we feel will be good activities for the family," said Civic Center Director Joel Holmes.
Those who bought tickets will be refunded. Holmes is working with the WWE to schedule another event.
