CRISP CO., GA (WALB) - The fire department has more than 100 new smoke detectors thanks to generous donations from two community group. The chief picked up the detectors Tuesday morning.
Donations from the Lions Club and a local realtors group made the purchase possible. The department says anyone can pick one up, but they're also organizing a blitz to pass them out.
"It notifies people, and they notify us quicker so we have less damage. You get people out, and we save lives and property," said Crisp County Fire Chief Jonathan Windham.
Chief Windham said the alarms will go to anyone in the city or county who needs one.
