ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Elite cheer team is hard at work preparing for a competition in Jacksonville.
The cheer team was started back in 2009 to support the Albany Elite basketball team.
Now the girls from kindergarten to 12th grade compete in national competitive cheer tournaments and have won a multitude of awards.
Next up for the Tiger Paws, the JAMfest JAM-Bash Series in Jacksonville Florida on January 31st.
The team is a non-profit that benefits from community support.
Seven years ago they had around 15 girls, now they are up to 85 and are quickly growing.
"Our main goal is to make sure that our girls know, not only can you do the things that you love which is cheerleading," said head coach O'Tessa Robinson. "But we also do community service with them as well. So they can learn early the importance of giving back."
