ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

As South Georgia sees the coldest temperatures yet this season, an Albany organization is extending the deadline to donate coats.

The Martin Luther King Coat drive has been extended to January 21st.

People can drop off their gently used or new coats at the Albany Police Department on West Oglethorpe Boulevard through this Thursday.

"It's going to actually be pretty cold out there. So we wanted to just help some people who obviously would be out sometime in the cold. Young old whatever, those people who are in need of some nice winter wear," said Regional Vice President Chimere Chisolm-Trimble.

People can also donate sweaters and blankets as well.
