Dozens attend lawyer panel on social justice at ASU
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Dozens of folks came to a discussion panel on social justice at Albany State University today.
Four distinguished black female attorneys from the Albany area fielded questions from the crowd. The event kicks off the week in recognition of Mary Young-Cummings, the first black female attorney in Albany.
Organizers say it's a great way to educate the public given recent controversies around the country.
"We thought it would be very instrumental and very crucial to hold a discussion panel with some attorneys in the area that are black female attorneys," said Young Cummings's son, Demetrius Young.
There is a play Friday night at ASU and a park cleanup Saturday to remember Mrs. Young-Cummings.
