ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A paper shredding event on Friday that usually happens once a year shredded all previous records. Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful hosted the event at the request of the community.
Over 500 cars were lined up behind the Civic Center dropping off old documents. The event is normally held in September.
They shredded over 20,000 pounds of paper - nearly four times the usual total.
The organization is looking to schedule more events for 2016.
"We continuously had telephone calls saying when's the next event and we typically do it once a year," said Executive Director Judy Bowles. "But for 2016 we'll be doing three events this year."
The next shredding event will be in May at the Civic Center.
