THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomasville church will be celebrating Martin Luther King's Day in a different way this year. They're hosting an 'MLK Humanitarian Walk of Faith,' to honor Dr. King and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Restoration Tabernacle Ministries will have a 2 mile walk in Downtown Thomasville.

There will also be a festival, cash prizes and a scholarship for the top college student who writes an essay on how they helped their community to embody Martin Luther King's character.

"In the African American community we have a lot of heart disease, diabetes, different elements that could really be a remedy if people would be more active," said Pastor Corey King with the Restoration Tabernacle Ministries.

The Festival begins at 9 a.m. and the walk will start at noon on Saturday.
