THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The Thomas County Jail is getting new equipment to help identify suspects.
County Commissioners approved more than $1,500 to buy a live fingerprint scanner. It takes digital fingerprints and can immediately compare them with prints on file with the Georgia Crime Information Center.
"G.C.I.C will let us know if you are who you say you are wanted by other states or other jurisdictions within the state and it just aids in apprehending criminals that are using multiple names," said Tim Watkins of the Thomas Co. Sheriff's Office.
The new scanner should be delivered to the Thomas County Jail in about two weeks.
