THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A new city council member is on the job in Thomasvillle. Pastor Terry Scott was sworn in this week. He hopes to improve economic development and help create more jobs for the area.

"We have an employment rate of 7.6 with there being a great demand for jobs in this area plus we have a providence rate of a 7.2 so we need to get the providence rate down, the unemployment rate down so we can get folks to work in this area," said Councilman Terry Scott.

Scott's term is four years. He says he's thrilled to make a difference in the community.
