Adel robbery suspect surrenders

ADEL, GA (WALB) -

A man Caught on camera robbing a couple at gunpoint in Adel turned himself in to police Wednesday afternoon.

Prabusdas Patel says he's thankful he had the surveillance equipment to catch 28-year-old Donte Glauvitz  in action. And after a week of searching for him,  he's finally behind bars.

"I can't understand what happened.  Within a few minutes," Patel said.

The robbery lasted only seconds, but Patel describes it as one of the scariest moments of his life. Patel says Donte Glauvitz came by the store twice before robbing it a gunpoint last Wednesday night. "He came at 5:55 and my employee was working that and he said something and he showed a gun."

Patel says his employee asked if he was robbing the store, but the employee said Glauvitz told her he was joking. Video shows Glauvitz at the store once again around 7:00 that night and then with his face covered around 8:15.

"And he showed the gun.  And I gave him all the money and everything from both registers. My wife was like this, 'Please, please, please!' He wanted the money," Patel said.

The video shows Glauvitz forcing the couple to lie down before he runs off. Patel says he called 911 immediately.

Glauvitz is also charged with aggravated assault, and two counts of cruelty to the elderly.
