LEE CO., GA (WALB) - The Lee County Public Library is officially the best in the state.
Tuesday night, library leaders received the first Georgia Public Library of the Year Award from the Georgia Public Library Service.
They beat out more than 400 public libraries in Georgia, based on how well they serve the community.
"It is clearly a very beloved library, a well used library and the people here very much appreciate the programs and services that the library offers," said State Librarian Julie Walker.
"This is a fantastic award. I'm so proud of the library all of the employees, Claire, all of them do a phenomenal job," Greg Crowder the Lee Co. Library Board Chairman.
The Library also received one thousand dollars from Baker & Taylor, a book vendor who sponsored the award.
