ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The former Bank of America building on North Westover Boulevard in Albany is being razed to make way for a new group of businesses, rumored to include Five Guys Burgers, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and Panera Bread Restaurants.
Cheddars Casual Cafe has cleared a lot not far away, and construction is underway.
Economic Development Leaders say Albany is once again attracting business investors.
Economic Development Commission Board Member Lamar Hudgins said "It's just good to see people like to go where people are. You know Albany I think is the retail capitol of Southwest Georgia. And so it's just good to see that investment."
E-D-C leaders say the new businesses will mean more jobs and an improved tax base.
They believe the new growth will attract more investment.
