Colquitt county developers are hoping to move dirt next Monday as construction begins on the new Publix.

Tuesday morning, people gathered on the lot for a groundbreaking ceremony.

County officials estimate the project will create more than 200 new jobs.

Steve Hufstetler, Teramore Development President and Owner, said he is looking forward to beginning the project after a lengthy legal battle over the land.

"Maybe I missed the joy of the journey because of the lawsuit," he said. "But I discovered a large commitment by this community and a lot of backing and motivation.  So, something lost created something found."

Hufstetler said the project will cost around $10 million and should be finished by Thanksgiving.
