Investigators want details of apartment fire

Sam Harris Sam Harris
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Good Samaritan helped save a woman from a fire at a four-unit Albany apartment building early Tuesday morning.

Theresa Almond woke up when smoke over took her apartment, and quickly evacuated to see Corlathea Allen's apartment in flames.

Fire investigators are asking the community for help determining the cause of that apartment fire.

There was no power to the apartment, and the fire appears to have started in a bedroom. Investigators say they think people were there when that fire started, and they are asking them to provide information.

"On the corner here it appears where people are gathering.  We would like anyone in the community that has any idea regarding this fire, and knowledge to please contact CRIMESTOPPERS.  They may be entitled to a reward," said Albany Fire Investigator Sam Harris.

If you have any information about that early morning fire on Swift Court this morning, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
