Woman waving gun leads cops to major drug arrest

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

When a woman started waving a gun, someone called police. Moultrie Police responded, and the result was a major drug bust.

Police confiscated $5,000 cash, scales, ammunition, and a pound of Methamphetamines.

Officers were dispatched to 7th Avenue SE, after a call came in about a woman waving a weapon in the air. When the Officers arrived, they were met by Melissa Williams, 27, of Moultrie.

Williams admitted to having a firearms and authorizing the officers to search her. It didn't take long to find the contraband.

Williams was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamines and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

"Although an arrest was made, the investigation is still on-going investigation and more charges may be forth coming," said Deputy Chief Rob Rodriguez. "Again, the Officers of this department are committed to eradicating this type of unlawful behavior and continue to make this community a safe place to reside.”

Williams is currently in the Colquitt County Jail.
