Police are investigating a man accused of killing his girlfriend's puppy. But that man insists he had nothing to do with the dog's death.

Robin Hightower says her boyfriend threatened to kill her two month old yellow pit bull the day before the puppy died. She says her neighbor found the dead puppy in the middle of the road and placed it on the owner's porch.

"The suspect is denying causing a death of the dog however it's going to be a further investigation done to determine if it was caused by a vehicle or some other way," said Captain Maurice Holmes.

If investigators conclude the boyfriend did kill the dog, they likely would charge him with felony cruelty to an animal.
