TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - An event in Tift County hopes to educate people on different ways to stay safe.
Around 20 safety-related groups and organizations were at 8th Street Elementary School for the Safety Fair Saturday. People had an opportunity to learn about first aid, bicycle safety, and gun safety.
This was all a part of one young man's Eagle Scout project. He said he chose this project due to a close call he had at home.
"I was sitting at home cooking dinner and I had a grease fire," said Matthew Collins. "Most people.. I figured that most people don't know how to put out a grease fire, but that was only one factor that played a part in it."
Collins says safety runs in his blood. His dad is a paramedic and his mother is an educator who keeps kids safe.
