The Colquitt County Commission will spend over $200,000 to defend its sale of the land off of Veterans Parkway for a new Publix.

Development Authority President Darrell Moore said he is looking forward to having the legal issues behind him.

Now he can focus on attracting new businesses to town.

"It's going to be a tremendous boost for us," he said. "It's going to make the community more marketable.  I think we are going to have other retailers that are going to follow Publix into the community and also make our community more attractive for industries and other people relocating."

Moore said the county hopes to plan a groundbreaking ceremony next week.
