DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

A Dougherty County man is warning people about an IRS scam.

Bill Teneyck said that he received six phone calls on Thursday from IRS scammers who told him a lawsuit is pending against him. They said a warrant was issued for his arrest, but he could pay more than four thousand dollars to resolve the suit. They even offered to meet him somewhere to collect the money.

Teneyck said he doesn't want others falling for the scam.

"Don't believe everything that comes on there. Verify it, double check, and make sure it's legit before you continue to talk to anybody else or hand out social security numbers or any other kind of information. Other than that, have fun with them, enjoy picking on them," said Teneyck.

Teneyck also said that he has contacted the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office about the scam.
