MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A Moultrie man was arrested after police found a pound of marijuana, a gun, and cash inside his home.

Moultrie police were investigating around Norman Street to follow up on a recent theft.

While in the area, investigators spoke with Gary Thomas, 23, and said they smelled marijuana coming from his home.

They obtained a search warrant and found marijuana, scales and packaging materials, a gun, and $700 in cash.

"Any time we can take drugs, weapons, or anything that is related to that off the streets that might protect you, or your family, or your friends is always a good day for not just the city of Moultrie, but for everybody," said Deputy Chief Rob Rodriguez.

Thomas was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and theft by receiving stolen property.
