MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Investigators of the Moultrie Police Department were conducting an unrelated theft investigation that lead to the arrest of Gary A. Thomas on several felony charges, and the seizure of a pound of marijuana, scales, and packaging materials, a weapon, and $700.00 in cash.

The Investigators originally responded to Norman Street, Southeast, in an attempt to locate property that had been reported stolen in an unrelated case.

Detectives were talking to Thomas about the investigation, when they smelled marijuana.

They executed a search warrant, and found the pot and all the other items they confiscated from his house.

Thomas was arrested and charged with several felonies.

Deputy Chief Rob Rodriguez said, "This is on-going investigation, however, the Investigators involved in this case embody the commitment our department has for the protection of our community."

Thomas is in the Colquitt County Jail.
