Over the last week and a half, as the water recedes, Lee County officials say they're finding washed up boats. Tuesday they located one of them on Creekside Drive.
Investigators say the sail boat isn't registered and they impounded it this afternoon. Officials say if you find a boat, you should not keep it. That's illegal.
"You can be arrested if you keep that boat and its discovered that you found it and did not turn it in just because you find something does not mean its necessarily yours and there's somebody out there that owned that boat and paid for that boat and they need it back and they should have it back," said Lee County Code Enforcement Officer Jim Wright.
Officials say if you discover a missing boat, you should contact your local law enforcement agency or code enforcement department and let them take care of it.
