An Albany company listed as a victim of insurance fraud in an indictment wants to assure their workers and customers they never did business with the suspect.
The grand jury indicted Rebecca Collins, and listed Popham Mechanical, an industrial contracting company in Albany, as a victim in the fraud.
Company officials tell us Collins was a sub-contractor bidding for safety work through them at the Albany Miller Coors brewery.
Popham discovered Collins business didn't have proper insurance. "They had provided us a fraudulent certificate. So we had not, we did not sign the contract with them. We did not contract their services, and we notified the plant their insurance was not legitimate," said Phyllis Lewis, Popham Mechanical CFO.
The State Insurance Commissioner's office then conducted the fraud investigation.
District Attorney Greg Edwards is seeking the arrest and extradition of Collins, who is believed to be in Kentucky.
He says Collins also faces charges in several other states.
