Insurance agent indicted for selling worthless insurance

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An insurance agent from Kentucky has been indicted for fraud, charged with selling worthless insurance to contract employees at Albany's MillerCoors brewery.

Rebecca Collins is now wanted on insurance fraud charges.

The case was investigated by Georgia's State Insurance Commissioner.

Prosecutors say Collins sold undocumented workman compensation insurance coverage to Popham Mechanical Contractors while working at the Miller Coors brewery in Albany.

"She is not a local person, as best we know," said Dougherty D.A. Greg Edwards. "This person resides in the state of Kentucky. But we will be taking steps to engage in the extradition process.

Edwards said he is not aware of any of the contract workers who have tried to file medical claims with the undocumented policies.

Attempts to contact Rebecca Collins, and officials with MillerCoors for more information, were unsuccessful because of the New Year holiday.
