ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Lee County man is under arrest, but an Albany man is still wanted, for a burglary at a vacant Dougherty County home. They were caught driving with the stolen property tied on top of their car.

29 year old Jessie Lindsey is charged with burglary and theft by taking.  Dougherty County Police arrested him driving away from the burglarized home.

Arrest warrants have been issued charging 35 year old Fred Meek with the same crimes.

Harold Bryan reported three ladders and other items were stolen from the home on Old Pretoria Road Sunday.  Early the next day, patrolling officers saw an SUV parked at the house with the three ladders on top.  Lindsey was arrested, but Meek escaped.

"The ladders were on top of the Yukon at the time, and there was some, a bank deposit slip was inside the vehicle that belonged to the victim from inside the residence," said Lt. Chad Kirkpatrick Dougherty County Police.

If you have any information about Meek's whereabouts, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436 TIPS, and you could earn a reward.
