LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Even though the Kinchafoonee Creek appears to not be rising anymore, it did get into additional homes. People were using kayaks to get back to their homes Saturday to inspect the damage.
Some of the homes that are several blocks from the creek only had water in the yard on Saturday.
One woman who evacuated Friday night said it was like starting over after getting her first look at her home.
"You had to move you don't know where your clothes where anything's at right now," said Sherry Moore. "We don't know when we'll be able to get back into our house."
Many of the affected homes are south of Century Road. The EMA director said it's too early to say if the creek has crested, but it has crested in the north.
