Firefighters are advising residents along Lovers Lane to take precaution.
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Albany Fire Department is advising residents along Lovers Lane to take precaution against the rising flood barriers. Officials say the flooding from the Kinchafoonee Creek will compare to the flood in 1998.
One homeowner said the US Army Corps of Engineers told him it could be as high as in 1994.
The rising flood barrier from the Kinchafoonee Creek should keep rising for much of the day. Crews are still out surveying the area.
Battalion chief Jefferson says the water is rising rapidly. No one is evacuating at the moment, but officials urge residents to be ready to do so.
