NWS calling for potential, moderate flooding

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The National Weather Service is calling for increased potential for moderate flooding on the Flint River next week. According to the NWS, the Flint River is expected to crest at 26.5 feet Monday in Montezuma.

Officials expect for the Flint to crest between 34-36 feet in Albany on Wednesday. This would make the fourth highest crest in Albany on the Flint, but it is not expected to do any major damage.

The Flint should crest in Newton somewhere above 35 feet later in the week and reach higher than 30 feet in Bainbridge in early January.

The National Weather Service will keep updating the forecasts.
