BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

Bainbridge residents are concerned about their trash not being picked on its regular schedule for the holidays.

Bainbridge residents sent us pictures of their garbage cans loaded with trash. Residents say they're frustrated that their trash isn't being picked up on its regular schedule and they had no idea about it.

"Some people did not know that we were going a day ahead instead of a day behind so its caused a major backup in trash," said Kathy Clark, Seminole Sanitation owner.

Clark says this year the trash is collected 2 days early for the holidays. She says she wanted to give employees a day off for Christmas.

"They work hard an they really did deserve three days they don't ask for a lot and they do a wonderful job I would be a terrible person if I said no. to me I just couldn't do it," said Clark.

Secretary Office Manager Phyllis Williams said, "We get Christmas day off but if its in the middle of the week we still have to work Christmas eve and the day after Christmas so this is the first time in 15 years so I really am excited to have this time with the grandchildren."

Clark says she warned residents about the schedule change through an ad in the newspaper. She says she just simply couldn't afford to send out enough letters in the mail to all residents.

Clark added, "I'm so sorry this has caused such a problem but I will get the trash on Monday I will pick it all up it has really caused a big backup and I again apologize but my workers deserve a holiday."

Clark says there will be no extra charge for picking up any extra garbage. The Seminole Sanitation Company will resume its regular route next Monday after Christmas.
