ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office took some kids in need Christmas Shopping Tuesday.
This was the 12th Annual "Shop with the Sheriff" as Sheriff Kevin Sproul and his deputies treated 19 children to lunch and Christmas Shopping.
Each kid got a deputy to help them shop for gifts, and each got to spend $100. It's not only about Christmas shopping; it's a chance for the deputies to mentor kids.
"They are going to be a blessing to these kids today," said Lt. Terron Hayes.
"Most of them will buy items for their siblings. For their relatives. They don't only think of themselves. And that's what this time of the season is. Is to think of others and give gifts to other people," said Dougherty Co. Sheriff Kevin Sproul.
The Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse donated lunch for all the kids and deputies.
K-Mart gives them shopping discounts, and community volunteers donate the money.
