CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Cordele police are encouraging businesses to be smart as Christmas approaches and robbers look for easy targets.

Police are investigating three armed robberies that happened last weekend. They encourage businesses to keep their eyes open and keep loiters away from the front of their business.

They also say you should keep a minimal amount of money in your registers. Don't hesitate to call 911 if you get uneasy about something around your business.

"Worst case scenario, we go up, we introduce ourselves, the person is harmless, and we go about our business. The best case scenario, we stop a robbery, a purse snatching or something else that might be occurring," said Sgt. Jeremy Taylor of the Cordele Police Department.

Sergeant Taylor says shoppers should also be smart about how much money they walk around with as well.
