Albany prowler gets a bullet for his trouble

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Police are investigating a shooting that happened about 4:00AM Tuesday, in the 1100 block of East Roosevelt Avenue. 

Police said a woman shot a man in the leg, after he broke into her home. 

The Albany Police Department says that Arnetta J. Heath-Heard and Franklin Thomas were asleep, when the suspect, a 24-year old man, entered the residence without permission.

The intruder attacked Thomas, 65, who called Ms. Heard for help. Ms. Heard, 56, said that she grabbed her gun and shot the suspect in the right leg. Then she called 911, while Thomas held the suspect for the police.

EMTs treated the suspect for a gunshot wound to his right leg, and Thomas for a cut on his forehead.

They both taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The investigation has been turned over to Criminal Investigations Bureau, and charges haven't been filed yet.
