Editorial: Albany's downtown development

Congratulations to those charged with moving things along in downtown Albany's redevelopment.

After years of steps forward and then steps backwards, it appears that a road map has been drawn and the community is excited about the direction in which things are moving.

Albany city commissioners have unanimously approved the sale of a vacant downtown building which will become new apartments, and thanks to Dr. Tripp Morgan and his company's investment of $4.4 million, the commission has also approved and will contribute $1.25 million to help develop a microbrewery at the Art Park on Pine Avenue.

The momentum is refreshing and we, too, believe these two projects will lead to even more growth in downtown Albany.
