LEE CO., GA (WALB) - The forecast of a very wet Christmas week has public works crews busy across South Georgia.
Lee County crews cleared drainage pipes and checked on flood prone areas Monday.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch through Thursday for parts of Southwest Georgia that include Dougherty and Lee Counties.
"Don't drive through water. We don't know what the bottom looks like. If it's flooded, go around. We'll try our best to get barricades out, there are sometimes that we can't be at every little spot. So just if you see something call the Sheriff's Office and they'll notify us to get out there and put a barricade on it," said Director Michael Sistrunk with Lee County Public Works.
Sistrunk also said that people need to be aware of any downed trees during the rainfall.
