BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - A Bainbridge High School student is wanting the set the bar even higher in his yearly fundraiser for families who need some help this Christmas. Ryan Adams has sold hot chocolate to raise money for families in need for the past 8 years, and he doesn't plan to stop anytime soon.
"I just like helping and knowing that there's someone out there that's not as fortunate as me that I'm able to give them a Christmas,"said Ryan Adams."One of our church members said their house burned down and I found out they weren't going to have a Christmas and none of her children were going to be able to get any presents and I ended up donating all of my money, it wasn't but 70 dollars so I ended up throwing in my play station with it and then it just started as an annual thing with a bigger goal every year."
Ryan has been selling hot chocolate, candy canes, cake and sweet tea since 7 this morning for $1.00 but its a just a small sacrifice he's willing to make to help families have a Christmas.
"He definitely has a big heart," said Ms. Decatur County Jalyn Harrison.
And Ryan is also impacting others around him in the community as well. Ryan and Ms. Decatur County shared with local middle school students on why it is important to give back to your community. Their message was heard loud and clear.
"We like to come out here because we like giving back to the community and we like to know we're giving back to people in need...we like getting stuff but we also like giving back its not fair that we have a Christmas and they don't.
Ryan, his family and friends hope to raise four thousand dollars by the end of the day.
