Stolen car burns after striking tree

BACONTON, GA (WALB) - A car hits a Mitchell County tree and bursts into flames. This happened just after midnight Sunday at River Road and MLK Drive in Mitchell County.

Video shot by the Baconton Fire Chief's wife, Marie Forrester,  shows personnel responding to the emergency.  But when they searched, there was no one in the car or close by.

Firefighters from the Baconton Fire Department responded and put the fire out.

The car was reported stolen, and the Camilla Police Department is still investigating the case, so they provided no information about the driver.
