ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Firebirds are returning football to the Albany Civic Center.
Saturday they hosted open tryouts to fill open spots on the team.
For the athletes who couldn't make it, the Firebirds announced they will be hosting another open tryout in Tallahassee January 16th.
The team led by head coach D.J Daniels already has three familiar players signed. General manager Terence Fowler says character will play a big role in the team's signings.
"It's for the love of the game and for the opportunity for you to be able to possibly be able to move up to the AFL," said the Albany native Fowler. "And sometimes even NFL scouts come to our games. So we're looking for that special player that's dedicated to the craft."
For fans who aren't trying to hit the field, season tickets for the Firebirds are on sale.
